Ronaldo admits in private that he made a mistake for leaving Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo realized that leaving Madrid was his worst mistake of his Life. Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has realised, 18 months after leaving Real Madrid following Florentino Perez’s refusal to increase his salary, that he made a mistake.
The Portugal star has confessed to some of his ex-teammates that he regrets forcing through his move to Juventus in 2018 according to ABC newspaper.
Ronaldo’s been heavily criticised this season for his discrete performances (seven goals in 12 games, three from the penalty spot) and has realised that Juve and Serie A don’t come with the grandeur of Real Madrid and La Liga when it comes to awards like the Ballon d’Or.
It’s for that reason that he has, in private, lamented the decision to move to Italy in a deal worth around 100 million euros.
He would never admit it in public, but he feels that if he had stayed at the Santiago Bernabeu he would also have won the last two Ballons d’Or, which have been won by Luka Modric (2018) and Leonel Messi (2019).
Ronaldo will turn 35 in February and has now realised that he is in the final years of his career and individual honours could now evade him.
